Honour Your Ancestors

您好, 巨龍!

Salutations, Dragons!

Somehow, amidst all the fun and excitement of chasing cats through the desert, we forgot that the beginning of a new year is meant to be a period of reflection upon the past. The season might be over, but it’s never a bad time to pay tribute to those who came before. Especially when they’re willing to pay up!

Spirits of the Past

The past has come alive for everyone in the Land, in the form of this special event buff.

All characters will receive 180 minutes of the event buff when logging in, and the duration will refresh every time the character comes online.

Honour Your Ancestors

You may not see or hear them, but your ancestors are always with you. No, we’re not talking about mildew from improper burials or raiding tombs for plunder. We meant that, as long as you keep alive the memory of your forbearers with symbolic offerings, their lifetimes of wisdom and courage will make you stronger than ever.

And if you don’t have any use for that wisdom and courage, you can always sell it.

Your ancestors are a picky bunch, and will only accept offerings in the form of Rice Bowls, Apples, Fishcakes, and Hearty Beef Stew, all of which are conveniently found on Deviant creatures in dungeons and the field. while this event lasts. Collect enough of each and Seo Hwarang in Hefei will convert them into an Ancestral Rite. She'll also convert food offerings from one type to another, albeit at a loss.

This was how we got our elders' attention, back in the days before we had FaceBook posts from oxcart pullers requesting a living wage.

Set your Ancestral Rite up in an out-of-the-way spot (not in town), and your sacrifice will be honoured in turn with an Ancestral Gift of a few useful items, and a mote of Ancestral Energy. Collect enough of this energy, and Seo Hwarang can help you create a couple of stronger items, including the Radiant Ancestral Rite – a sign of your unmatched devotion to your ancestors, which is sure to be recognized and rewarded in turn.

Ancestral Rites are activated from your inventory in order to set them up. Once set up, you just need to click on them, wait a moment while your character goes through the ritual motions, and then receive your rewards. Rites will never produce more than the indicated quantity of each item, but an increased Item Drop Rate will improve your chances at receiving the rewards which don’t appear 100% of the time.

"...and kids are too weak these days! We need another Warring States Period! And I think the Tibetan nurse is stealing from me! Are you writing this down!?"

"Yes, grandpa."

Refining weapons to high levels takes a lot of luck, but everyone knows that your ancestors are the ones to count on when you seek fortune’s favour. The Radiant Refinement Box contains a Tender Stone of Nine Divines, as well as an incredibly elusive Pot of Blue Dragon's Soul. This pot holds a potent spiritual essence which, when used as refinement material for weapons when refining to +16 or higher, improves your rate of success by 50%.

Hanbok Vouchers can be exchanged for a box containing three permanent hanboks. They don't have any stats, but they suit the occasion.

felt cute might honour ancestors l8r idk

The Sunken Searock Yin and Flaming Seastone Yang are just like the weapon ornaments found on Hainan. You can receive the first stage of either from Radiant Ancestral Rites, and upgrade them to stage 2 if you find an elusive Master Blacksmith Coupon. Two coupons can be used to upgrade either ornament from stage 2 to stage 3.

Descended From Greatness is a fine epithet to wear for the occasion. It only lasts for 30 days, but the timer doesn’t begin until you equip it.

"They gave us the Lunar New Year event a month late!"

"Alright, get rid of all the 'Lunar New Year' references. It'll be fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Just make sure you get all of them."

Papaya Play Marketplace

Your ancestors might be picky about the offerings they accept, but they don’t care whether or not you gather it yourself. If gathering offerings for your Ancestral Rites doesn’t fit into your schedule, you can find quantities of each offering in the Ceremonial Offering Lucky Box. These boxes are left over from past occasions, so you might also find gifts from ancestors which went unclaimed. Probably because the would-be devotee was eaten by Deviants while gathering apples.

Your elders also appreciate a bargain, so save cash by buying in bulk.

Our ninth series of costumes have arrived, and can be obtained with the coupons found inside the Trendy Masquerade Box. You can exchange them with Mae Hwar in Hefei for one of four new [Exquisite] Costumes, or if you save them up, you can select one of two new [Exquisite] Premium Costumes.

The Classy Ensemble coupon exchange has been moved to Sua.
